Choose from a range of training plans

Training plans are delivered online:

  • Ironman: 18-24 week plans
  • Half IM: 15-21 week plans
  • Tri Wellington squad-specific plans
  • Plus plans for Aquabike, Ultramarathon, Half Marathon, and more to come

Choose a level to suit your goal:

  • Complete: Successfully finish the event inside cutoff times
  • Challenge: Aiming for a mid-pack finish
  • Perform: Aiming to finish in the top 1/4 of your Age Group

Plus every plan includes:

  • Specific daily workouts that can be done by heart rate, cycling power, running pace, and perceived effort
  • High and low volume options, to suit people with different time availability




Train solo, or with Tri Wellington Squad

Our training plans work for those training solo in their own time from anywhere in NZ, as well as those training with the Tri Wellington squad doing:

  • Tuesday evening interval runs
  • Saturday morning group rides

Tri Wellington squad is a separate membership from Mr Smith's IronTeam.

We run a private Facebook Group so everyone can stay connected. Through this Facebook group you can:

  • Receive weekly coaching guidance, tips, and resources
  • Ask questions and get advice from the whole team
  • Contribute your experience, and learn from others

Training Camps

IronTeam members get preferential invites to our training camps:

  • Spring camp: 29 Oct - 01 Nov in Hawkes Bay, as  preparation for December Half IM events
  • Summer camp: 28 - 31 Jan in Taupo, as a 70.3 fitness boost, and to opportunity to test Ironman race plans

You get to train and recover like a pro, while our support team takes care of the meals and logistics.

All abilities are welcome, with training options to suit everyone.
